Abstract:The southern exploration area of Dongsheng coalfield is an important research object for revealing the sedimentary environment and the formation and evolution of coal accumulating basins. It is of great significance for deepening geological theory research and guiding coal resource exploration. Based on drilling data in the research area, combining lithological characteristics, marker layers and interlayer spacing together, actual basis has been put forward for stratigraphic division of Yan'an formation, Zhiluo formation, Anding formation, Zhidan group and Quaternary. Characteristics of coal bearing rock series, paleogeographic environment and structural evolution have been studied. It is indicated that comparing the sedimentary environment, paleoclimate, basin evolution theory with the rock core characteristics in actual work, and using a comprehensive method for stratigraphic division, is not only beneficial for a more intuitive understanding and comprehension of the rock core characteristics under the influence of various sedimentary environments and paleoclimates, but also for fully understanding the development laws of the strata in exploration areas. Thus, accurate geological data can be obtained. It will provide reliable basis for correctly evaluating the resources in the area. Dongsheng coalfield has undergone a complex sedimentary process. After multiple periods of decline and uplift in coal accumulating basin, different sedimentary environments, such as lakes, deltas and rivers have been formed, and controlled the formation of coal strata in Jurassic Yan'an formation. Since early Jurassic, tectonic movements, sedimentary environments and basin evolution have controlled the development of strata and coal strata in the study area. This research will provide theoretical support for the division of rock core strata and the influence of sedimentary environment on strata development in the area, and a scientific basis for regional resource development.
