Abstract:The limestone mining areas in Shandong province are distributed in 45 counties across 9 cities, including 28 in Ji'nan, 24 in Ji'ning, 26 in Zaozhuang, 21 in Linyi, 21 in Zibo, 15 in Tai'an, 12 in Weifang, 7 in Yantai and 3 in Rizhao. 157 limestone deposits have been discovered with significant resource reserves. There are many mineral bearing layers in limestone within the province, with a wide range of exposed areas. Limestone deposits generated by different mineralization processes mainly occur in the Ordovician Majiagou Group Badou Formation, Wuyangshan Formation, and Bei'anzhuang Formation; Cambrian Ordovician Jiulong Group Zhangxia Formation; The Xiangqian Formation of the Penglai Group in the Sinian period belongs to the shallow marine carbonate sedimentary formation. The types of mineral deposits are: marine chemical sedimentary type, marine mechanical sedimentary type, and marine biological sedimentary type, among which the main type is marine chemical sedimentary type. The fresh surface color of limestone produced in Shandong Province is black and gray, with cryptocrystalline structure and blocky structure. The main minerals in the rock are calcite, with a small amount of dolomite, clay minerals, and quartz. The chemical composition of the blocky limestone in the Ordovician Majiagou Group is relatively stable and of the best quality in the province. The CaO content is relatively high, generally ranging from 50% to 55%, with the highest reaching 56%. The limestone ore content in the fried rice shop group is relatively high, generally 70% (for cement) and 90% (for building stone); The Gushan Formation limestone has the lowest mineral content. The types of limestone ore are divided into seven categories: blocky (mud crystal), oolitic, leopard skin, bamboo leaf, banded, angular gravel, and layered stone. This article summarizes the mineralogical characteristics and mineralization laws of limestone deposits in Shandong Province, and clarifies the prospecting direction for limestone deposits in Shandong Province.
