Abstract:Geochemical composition of surface sediments is restricted by material source, grain size and sedimentary environment. It has a great significance for understanding sediment sourcesink processes and paleoenvironmental evolution. In this paper, geochemical characteristics of surface sediments in Weihai bay have been systematically analyzed. It is showed that the content of major components in sediments is lower in southwest and higher in northeast. It is negatively correlated with the average particle size, and the element abundance is close. The content of trace elements in sediments is higher in the west and lower in the east. It is positively correlated with the average particle size, and the element abundance is enriched. In addition, by calculating the enrichment coefficient and pollution factors, it is found that the sediment content is related to the sediment particle size, detritus into the sea, human engineering activities and so on.
