Abstract:The information involved in the survey of present situation of sea area use includes natural spatial information and information related to sea area management. In this paper, in order to obtain present situation of sea area use in Shandong province comprehensively and accurately, based on sea area ownership vector data, overlaying satellite images with spatial resolution equal to or better than 2m, carrying out visual interpretation in ArcGIS, and determining the type, pattern, present situation of use and utilization, the vector data of sea area use has been finally formed after on-site supplementary survey. By using the results of field survey and remote sensing interpretation, the error matrix has been constructed, the accuracy of the sea use methods and types of remote sensing interpretation have been evaluated. The overall accuracy can reach 98%, the survey methods and results can meet the needs of comprehensive management of sea areas. According to "Technical Methods for Monitoring and Early Warning of Resources and Environment Carrying Capacity (Trial)" , the development intensity of sea areas in Shandong province has been evaluated. It is regarded that the development intensity of sea areas in the whole province is generally appropriate.
