Abstract:Basic principles, test steps and calculation process of the stress relief method have been introduced in this paper. By using elastic modulus and Poisson’s ratio measured in the laboratory and three-dimensional expansion and deformation data obtained by the field stress relief, the magnitude and direction of the stress in the rock mass before the stress is released can be calculated by linear Hooke’s law. Taking Anju coal mine in Jining coalfield as an example, the magnitude, direction and inclination of the maximum principal stress, intermediate principal stress and minimum principal stress of the three measuring points can be obtained, and the stress distribution law of the original rock near the underground depot of Anju coal mine has been summarized.
