Abstract:Jiaolai basin is a Cretaceous graben basin developed in the eastern part of North China block. A preliminary study of the sedimentary tuff layer in Yangjiazhuang formation of Laiyang group at the bottom of the basin has been carried out. Through study on petrology of sedimentary tuff and zircon SHRIMP U-Pb chronology study, it is regarded that the formation age of the tuff layer in Yangjiazhuang formation of Laiyang group in Jiaolai basin is (131.1±1.7)Ma. It limits the sedimentary time of Yangjiazhuang formatio, and provides a new chronological basis for the early formation and evolution of Jiaolai basin. The age of the single detrital zircon in the sedimentary tuff is (835±23)Ma. It is indicated that Sulu orogen provides a material source for Laiyang group.
