Abstract:The distribution pattern and sedimentary bedding of the sand belts along Yihe river and Shuhe river in Linyi city have been studied. It is considered that the sand belts belong to the sediments retained during the paleoflood period (SWD), not the former aeolian sand (Hanting formation). In order to obtain the formation age of the retained sediments, by using Optical Luminescence Dating (OSL) method, the corresponding sediment ages have been gained as 0.8ka and 1.2ka firstly. Based on the flood records of relevant historical periods and comprehensive analysis, it is considered that the retained sediments recorded two historical floods in Tang and Song Dynasties.
