Abstract:YangguChiping coalfield is a well preserved area of the upper CarboniferousPermian in the upper Paleozoic in Shandong province. Benxi formation, Taiyuan formation, Shanxi formation and the remaining shihezi formation developed in this area. Taiyuan formation and Shanxi formation have deposited darkcolored mud shale with great thickness. Based on sedimentary environment analysis and mud shale development thickness statistics, it is concluded that the mud shale of Shanxi formation mainly develops below coal 3, which can be analyzed and studied together with the mud shale of Taiyuan formation. The development thickness of darkcolored mud shale in Taiyuan formation accounts for 68.82% of the formation thickness of this group. The organic carbon content of dark mud shale in Shanxi formation and Taiyuan formation is generally more than 1.5%, with medium to excellent hydrocarbon source rocks as the main source rocks. Type organic matter types as gas rock(Ⅲ) kerogen, vitrinite reflectance is generally Between 0.6% and 1.5%, mainly medium—excellent source rocks. According to the analysis, the dark mud shale of the lower shanxi formation and taiyuan formation has the sedimentary environment, material basis, organic matter type and evolutionary conditions for shale gas generation. It is clear that the lower shanxi formation and the dark mud shale of taiyuan formation is the target horizon for exploration in the area, providing a basis for further work.
