Abstract:Groundwater is an important water resource. Organic pollution of groundwater has attracted the attention of many countries including China. Through investigation of shallow groundwater pollution, on the basis of a large number of firsthand data, the characteristics of persistent organic pollution of shallow groundwater in Binzhou city have been analyzed . The sources, pollution pathways and distribution of organic pollutants in shallow groundwater have been studied as well. It is showed that shallow groundwater in Binzhou area has been polluted by organic pollutants. There are 20 kinds of organic pollutants detected, they are mainly halogenated hydrocarbons and monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. However, the concentration of organic pollutants in the shallow groundwater is relatively low. Only three kinds of organic pollutants exceed the standard which mainly distributed in industrial parks, chemical plants and near leather cities. The source of organic pollutants in Binzhou area is mainly caused by the irrational discharge and disposal of the "three wastes" by industrial factories, which leads to the organic pollution of surface water flowing through the polluted sources to varying degrees, and the polluted water enters the soil of different areas by different ways, such as sewage irrigation, so as to infiltrate vertically. It enters and pollutes shallow groundwater. The detection rate and exceeding standard rate of organic indicators near typical areas and pollution sources are significantly higher than other regions.
