Abstract:Laiyang Cretaceous National Geopark is characterized by stratigraphic sections and palaeobios fossils. The types of geological relics include sections, palaeobios fossils, geomorphological landscapes, water landscapes, etc. The planning on the scope of the park, goal orientation, the overall layout and functional partition, geological relics protection, interpretation system and science and tourism have been discussed in this paper. The concentration degree of geological relics and the convenience of management should be taken into account in boundary determination. The development goal should be combined with the characteristics of resources and the large tourism pattern of the province.The overall layout should consider the concentration degree and spatial distribution of the geological relics. Functional zoning aims to maximize the function of the geopark. The protection of geological relics should be classified and implemented under the guidance of the expert committee. The interpretation system plays an important role in science popularization, which should be easy to understand, entertaining to learn the knowledge and consistent with the environment. We should vigorously develope local popular science activities for primary and middle school students and special science popularization activities for tourists, and plan special popular science tourism routes. Tourism development should highlight the characteristics of geological culture and design tourism products. From the aspects of geological relics protection，developement and utilization, some suggestions are put forward for the further development of the park in this paper.
