Abstract:In this paper, color reaction of trace copper by using a new chromogenic reagent four-(3-sulfo-4-chlorophenyl) porphyrin in acidic medium has been studied in the presence of surfactant OP and CPC. Complex has an absorption maximum at the wavelength of 420nm, and the molar absorbance coefficient is 3.44 × 105 L·mol-1cm-1. The molar absorption coefficient is 6.72×105 L·mol-1 cm-1 with a bimodal dual-wavelength spectrophotometric determination, and the copper content is in the range 0.5~4.5 ug/25mL. It fits Beer law. This method is used for the determination of trace copper in ore samples, and gained a satisfied result.
