Due to long-term exploitation of clay mineral, a large square of mined-out areas have been formed in Zhangqiu area of Shandong province. It will not only harm the industry and agriculture production in a certain extent, but also restrict the development of local economy. Therefore, the accurate detection of mined-out areas is particularly important. Through the comparison of low-resistant anomalous characteristics of clay mined-out area by using ρa contour lines gained by several high density resistivity devices, it is regarded that combination of Shibei and triode device can better reflect the position of mined-out areas; while low resistivity abnormal morphology of CSAMT ρa isoline section can reflect the general spatial form of mined-out areas. Combination of high density resistivity method and CSAMT method can greatly increase the accuracy and reliability of the detection of clay mined-out areas. It is one of the best combination of geophysical prospection for investigation and treatment of geological hazards.
