Abstract:Located in the east of Shanxian county, Shandong province, Zhangji mine field’s tectonic framework is composed of swells and sags distributing one by one separated by regional extension fractures, which controls the distribution of strata as well as its coal resources. The existing strata in this area include Quaternary System, Neogene System, Paleogene System, Carboniferous-Permian System, Ordovician System, Cambrian System and Precambrian System. The thickness of unconsolidated rocks of Quaternary System and Neogene System are about 500 meters. The main coal-bearing stratum of Zhangji mine field is Shanxi Formation which belongs to Yuemengou Group of Carboniferous-Permian System. During the periods from Carboniferous to Permian, the regression made this area an extensive delta plain with peat mire, and the flouring of Cathysia flora supplied abundance of materials for the accumulation of peat.
