高光谱遥感在煤矿区具有广泛的应用潜力，在总结高光谱遥感技术发展及其应用现状的基础上，结合煤矿区资源环境特点，对数据获取、先验知识与光谱模型研建、定量模型建立、信息处理方法、精度评价等问题进行了分析，为应用高光谱遥感在煤矿区资源集约利用、生态环境保护、区域持续发展等方面的系统应用提供了技术和方法支持。
